Climate change threatens every corner of the planet.

The beautiful coasts of Puerto Rico are no exception!

Help us protect and preserve our coastal heritage in the face of climate change and development.

Our goal is to keep Puerto Rico's beaches open, public and free for all its people, forever! #LasPlayasSonDelPueblo

Our mission is to organize and educate Puerto Ricans, visitors to the island, and the Puerto Rican diaspora in general to meet the goals of defending, conserving, opening, and democratizing Puerto Rico's coastal ecosystems.

Puerto Rico free and open public beaches are being illegally privatized.

We are a community of activists fighting against the privatization of beaches. Illegal coastal development makes Puerto Rico more vulnerable to the threats of climate change and erodes the civil rights of Puerto Ricans to access public lands.

What are we protecting?
The Indian Cave Nature Reserve

Murciélago Reserve - Beach Defenders was initially founded to protect the sacred archaeological sites of the Taino Indians on the northern coast of Puerto Rico from destruction caused by tourist investment and private developers. But now we are part of a movement that encompasses the entire Puerto Rican archipelago.
